## Rice 0.4.0

Released on 2026-10-14. https://github.com/WalissonCF/rice/releases/tag/v0.4.0

**Install in one line (macOS, Apple Silicon)**
```bash
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/WalissonCF/rice/main/get.sh | bash
```
Rice is built on your Mac, so macOS doesn't block it (no `xattr`). Running it again updates Rice.

**New**
- **Memory across meetings:** Rice remembers what each person and company asked for, promised and decided. Before a call, "What to remember" shows it with links to the source meeting. Browse people and companies in the new **Memory** page.
- **Follow-ups that chase themselves:** every next step from every meeting in one list (overdue, today, this week), with owner and due date. A daily notification for what is due, and the next meeting closes what was done. Synced with the checkboxes in your notes; can be sent to macOS Reminders.
- **Local models:** use Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, MLX, Jan or any OpenAI-compatible server on your Mac (localhost only).
- **Fully local mode:** nothing leaves your Mac; every network feature is blocked, with a "100% local" badge.
- **Privacy receipt:** each meeting shows what left your computer, to which AI and when (metadata only).
- **Consent reminder:** a one-click notice to paste in the call chat when you start recording.
- **Personal data redaction:** CPF, CNPJ, cards, e-mails and phone numbers are masked before reaching the AI and restored locally.
- **Retention per folder:** move old audio or meetings to the Trash automatically.
- **Voice signatures are never saved** (speaker identification keeps them in memory only).
- **Sidebar** works in short windows: all items keep their names; only the menu scrolls when space is tight.

**Other ways to install**
- macOS app: `Rice-0.4.0-arm64.dmg`, then `xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Rice.app`. Needs `brew install whisper.cpp`.
- Windows (preview): `Rice-Setup-0.4.0-x64.exe` (SmartScreen: More info › Run anyway).
- Existing clones: `./update.sh` (or `git pull && ./install.sh` if your clone predates 0.2.0).

## Rice 0.3.0

Released on 2026-10-13. https://github.com/WalissonCF/rice/releases/tag/v0.3.0

**New**
- **Global record shortcut:** ⌥⌘R (Ctrl+Alt+R on Windows) starts or stops a recording from any app; it uses the calendar meeting happening now. Change or turn it off in Settings › Shortcuts.
- **Pause:** pause and continue a recording without stopping it; nothing is recorded or transcribed while paused, and the transcript marks the gap.
- **Saved questions in chat:** a lightbulb button in "Ask Rice" with ready-made questions ("Summary for someone who missed it", "Next steps per person"…) and your own.
- **Web sources are kept** with the answer when you reopen a meeting.
- **Screenshots on the right screen:** with several displays, Rice captures the screen (or window) of the call app.

**Polish**
- Calmer UI details: neutral search focus, friendly model names, menus that never overflow the window, "Generate notes" next to the template picker, refreshed screenshots in the README.

**Install**
- macOS (Apple Silicon): `Rice-0.3.0-arm64.dmg`, then `xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Rice.app`. You still need `brew install whisper.cpp`.
- Windows: `Rice-Setup-0.3.0-x64.exe` (SmartScreen: More info › Run anyway).
- From source: `./update.sh` (or `git pull && ./install.sh` if your clone is older than 0.2.0).

## Rice 0.2.0

Released on 2026-10-13. https://github.com/WalissonCF/rice/releases/tag/v0.2.0

**New**
- **Windows (preview):** installer for Windows 10 22H2 / 11 (x64). No echo cancellation yet (use headphones); calendar via Google only.
- **Screenshots triggered by the conversation (optional, off by default):** when someone says "let me share my screen" or "look at this chart", Rice takes a screenshot ~2 s later, links it to that sentence in the transcript and can cite it in the notes. Works with CLI subscriptions too (the decision is made from text). Manual capture: camera button or ⌘⇧S.
- **Search the web in chat:** globe button in "Ask Rice", off by default and per conversation; sources shown as links. Each provider only gets its search tool, never a shell.
- **Record now** on Home for calendar meetings happening now or starting within 10 minutes; "Prep notes" for later ones.
- **Updating:** `./update.sh` for git clones, and a daily, anonymous check that shows "New version available" in Settings › Updates (can be turned off).

**Fixes**
- A meeting started from the "meeting is starting" notification now shows as recording in the sidebar.
- Smaller app (the package no longer includes build leftovers).

**Install**
- macOS (Apple Silicon): download `Rice-0.2.0-arm64.dmg`, drag Rice to Applications, then run `xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Rice.app` (the app is not notarized by Apple). You still need `brew install whisper.cpp`.
- Windows: run `Rice-Setup-0.2.0-x64.exe`; on the SmartScreen warning choose **More info › Run anyway**.
- From source: `git pull && ./install.sh` once; afterwards `./update.sh`.

## Rice for Windows (preview) (Preview)

Released on 2026-10-12. https://github.com/WalissonCF/rice/releases/tag/v0.2.0-windows-preview

**Windows preview — not tested on real hardware yet.** Built and tested on GitHub's Windows runners (typecheck, unit tests, app smoke test).

- Windows 10 22H2+ / 11, x64.
- Download `Rice-Setup-0.1.0-x64.exe` and run it. Windows SmartScreen may warn ("Windows protected your PC") because the installer is not code-signed: click **More info › Run anyway**.
- Transcription (whisper) is bundled/downloaded automatically. For the AI, paste an API key (Claude, OpenAI or Gemini) in Settings, or use a CLI you're signed in to (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode).
- Known limits in this preview: echo cancellation is off (use headphones), no macOS Calendar/Reminders (Google Calendar works), Antigravity is not available on Windows.

## Rice 0.1.0

Released on 2026-10-11. https://github.com/WalissonCF/rice/releases/tag/v0.1.0

First public version of Rice: a Mac app that records your meetings, transcribes them on your machine and writes the notes with the AI you already use.

**Highlights**
- Local transcription with whisper.cpp (audio never leaves your Mac)
- Notes, chat and "ask about all my meetings" with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, OpenCode or Antigravity — your subscription or API key
- Live ideas and War room (investigation on the web, MCPs and a folder) during the meeting
- Folders, search, templates, attachments, calendar and reminders
- No servers, no telemetry, MIT

**Install (Apple Silicon, macOS 14+)**
- Developers: `git clone https://github.com/WalissonCF/rice.git && cd rice && ./install.sh`
- Or download `Rice-0.1.0-arm64.dmg` below. The app is not signed by Apple. If macOS says "Rice Not Opened", run `xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Rice.app`, or go to System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway. You also need `brew install whisper.cpp`.
