Why contribute (30 s): A 30-second film about contributing to Rice: one pull request moved Windows transcription to the graphics card, and 333 seconds of speech went from about 20 minutes to 13 seconds. ## How to contribute

Code, a bug report or an idea: all of it helps. Rice is written in TypeScript, with Electron and small native helpers in Swift and C++, and the app speaks English and Portuguese.

1. **Open an issue.** Describe the bug or the idea, with your system and the version of Rice. For a large change, an issue first saves work on both sides.
2. **Make the change.** Fork the repository and work on a branch. Before sending, run `npm run typecheck` and `npm test`. If the change adds text to the app, write it in both languages.
3. **Send a pull request.** Say what changed and how you tested it. Every pull request runs the typecheck, the tests and the build on macOS and on Windows, and gets a review and an answer.
