About Rice

In one sentence

Rice is a free, open source meeting notes app that records without a bot, transcribes on the computer and writes the notes with the AI you already pay for.

In a paragraph

Rice records the microphone and the computer’s audio, so nobody joins the call and it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or any other app. Transcription runs on the computer with whisper.cpp, and the audio never leaves it. The notes, the chat across meetings, the memory of what each person asked for and promised, and the follow-ups are written by the AI the user chooses: a Claude or ChatGPT subscription, an API key, or a model running on the computer, with a 100% local mode in which nothing leaves. Rice has no servers, no account and no telemetry. It is free, MIT licensed, and runs on Macs with Apple Silicon, with Windows 10 and 11 in preview.
